FAQ

Common Questions About Labour Cases

How do I file a labour complaint in Qatar?

You can file a complaint through the Ministry of Labour’s online portal or visit their office. However, having a lawyer file on your behalf ensures proper documentation, correct legal grounds, and the strongest possible case from the start. LawBridge handles the entire process for you.

What compensation can I claim for unpaid salary?

Under Qatar Labour Law, you can claim all unpaid salary amounts, end-of-service gratuity (3 weeks per year of service), unused annual leave compensation, overtime pay, repatriation ticket costs, and in some cases, damages for wrongful withholding of wages.

How long does a labour case take in Qatar?

Ministry mediation takes approximately 7 working days. If unresolved, the Labour Dispute Resolution Committee typically hears cases within 3-6 weeks. Court proceedings, if needed, can take 2-6 months depending on complexity. We pursue the fastest resolution path available.

Can my employer terminate me without notice?

Qatar Labour Law requires employers to provide written notice (typically 1-2 months depending on your contract). Immediate termination is only permitted for specific gross misconduct reasons listed in Article 61. If terminated without valid cause, you may be entitled to compensation.

Do I need to be in Qatar to file a labour case?

While it’s preferable to be in Qatar, we can initiate proceedings through a power of attorney arrangement. This is particularly important for workers who have already left Qatar but are owed unpaid wages or end-of-service benefits.

What if my employer hasn't given me an NOC?

Under Qatar’s updated labour laws, many workers no longer need an NOC to change jobs. However, if your contract includes specific terms or you’re in a restricted category, we can help you navigate the process and challenge any unlawful restrictions on your mobility.
