Resolving Immigration Holds
& Exit Issues in Qatar
Blocked from leaving Qatar? Facing overstay fines, immigration holds, or exit clearance issues? LawBridge Qatar works directly with the Ministry of Interior and Qatar’s immigration authorities to resolve your situation quickly and confidentially — so you can get home or stay legally with full peace of mind.
CASES WE HANDLE
Immigration Issues We Resolve
Blocked Exit Clearance
When your exit is blocked at the airport or through the Metrash2 system, we identify the reason — whether a pending case, employer hold, or system error — and take immediate legal action to clear it.
Overstay Fines & Penalties
Accumulated overstay fines can reach thousands of riyals and lead to detention. We negotiate fine reductions with immigration, arrange payment plans, and secure exit permits to regularise your status.
Immigration Holds & Detention
If you’re held at an immigration detention centre or police station, we provide immediate legal representation, file release applications, and coordinate with MOI for your freedom.
Sponsorship Transfer Issues
Stuck with an uncooperative sponsor who won’t release you? We handle NOC disputes, forced sponsorship transfers, and employer-related immigration blocks through legal and administrative channels.
Residence Permit Problems
Expired RP, cancelled residency, or permit renewal rejections — we work with MOI to reinstate your legal status, process renewals, or arrange a legal exit if you choose to leave Qatar.
Deportation Defence
If you’re facing deportation proceedings, we represent you before immigration authorities, challenge unlawful deportation orders, and ensure your rights under Qatari law are protected.

FAQ
Immigration Case Questions
Do I still need an exit permit to leave Qatar?
Qatar abolished the exit permit requirement for most workers in 2020. However, certain categories (domestic workers, government employees, and military personnel) may still need employer approval. Additionally, court-ordered travel bans and immigration holds can block your exit regardless of the exit permit rules.
What happens if I overstay my visa in Qatar?
Overstaying results in daily fines of QAR 10 per day, which accumulate quickly. Extended overstays can lead to detention, deportation, and a ban on re-entry to Qatar. We negotiate fine reductions with immigration and arrange legal exit procedures to minimise penalties.
Can my employer block me from leaving Qatar?
Under Qatar’s updated laws, most employers cannot prevent employees from leaving. However, they can file civil or criminal cases that result in travel bans, or report you as “absconding” which creates immigration complications. We challenge these blocks through legal and administrative channels.
What should I do if I'm stopped at the airport?
Do not panic or create a disturbance. Note the exact reason given by immigration officers. Contact LawBridge immediately — we can often begin working on your case within hours, even from the airport. Do not sign any documents without legal advice.
How long does it take to resolve an immigration hold?
Simple administrative issues (system errors, expired permits) can be resolved in 1-3 days. Overstay fine negotiations take 1-2 weeks. Complex cases involving sponsorship disputes or legal proceedings may take 2-6 weeks. We pursue the fastest resolution path available.
Can I stay in Qatar legally if my residency is cancelled?
If your residence permit is cancelled, you typically have a grace period to find a new sponsor or leave Qatar. We can help you secure a new sponsorship, obtain a temporary permit, or arrange a legal exit. Staying beyond the grace period results in overstay penalties.
Facing an Immigration Issue in Qatar?
Whether you’re blocked at the airport, facing overstay fines, or dealing with a sponsorship dispute — our immigration specialists will coordinate directly with MOI to resolve your case quickly and get you moving again.
